Background and Goals
The Y chromosome is passed from father to son. A DNA test exists that allows individuals to compare Y Chromosomes. A comparison of Y Chromosome
markers may find common ancestors for men with the same surname. With this surname project we would like to learn about the origin of our surname. Did
the BOND surname have multiple origins or one primary origin? Also, what tribe were our ancient ancestors members of (i.e. Viking, Celtic, Anglo-Saxon,
etc.). We would also like to provide a genetic surname map, allowing others to narrow their search. Finally, we would like to add strength to the many

The first known record of James is his marriage to Marie Dorothea Naas, 27 July 1819, in Chester, Nova Scotia. James worked as a mariner and died
in 1858 at 82 years of age.James and Dorothea had nine children in Chester: James (1820), Maria Elizabeth (1821), Isiaah Michael (1823), John
Benjamin (1824), Joseph (1826), John George (1828), Ann Margaret (1831), Louisa (1831), Thomas E. (1832).

John Bond married Sarah Pritchett,1715, in North Carolina. John died in 1749 in North Carolina. John and Sarah had eight children in Beaufort

John married Hester Blakely, 1649, in Newbury, Massachusetts. John and Hester had six children in Newbury, MA: John (1650), Thomas (1652),

7913- William Bond born 1754, of Devon, England.
William married Hannah Cranch, 1788, in Portland, Maine. William is thought to be descended from the Bond's of Erth. William and Hannah are the
parents of the famous astronomer William Cranch Bond (1789-1859).
7922- Lafayette Bond born 1854, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Lafayette married Kate Ashton, their children were Harry, Maude, and Lester Ashton.
7963- William Felter Bond born 1854 in Mississippi, removed to Texas.
William first married Rachel Goldsmith in Texas, and later he married Annice Calvert (nee ?). In 1900 he was living in District 59 of Justice (Precinct 3),
Johnson County, Texas. His father was from Tennessee and mother from Mississippi. He had three or more children with his first wife: Edna Lenora,
William Arthur, S.A. (1884), and a child with his second wife: Dee W. (1898).

Stephan Bond had three sons: William (1783), David (bef. 1791), Stephan (1792).

Benjamin is believed to be John Benjamin the son of James Bond (see 7898) of Chester, NS. Benjamin married Margaret Lantz in 1846 in Chester,
NS. Benjamin and Margaret had six children: Charles Wallace (1850), John Benjamin (1851), Anna Jane (1855), James Lewis (1856), Marie (1859),
Ada (1861).
